What is Heritage Hub Rasnov?

Cultural heritage is a crucial element in the dialogue between cultures, promoting respect for identities and diversity, thus strengthening the sense of belonging to a community. During the last decades, the concept of cultural heritage has undergone significant transformations, imposing the need for new managerial approaches, participative and based on extensive collaboration. These principles guide the "Heritage Hub Râșnov" project proposed by the Mioritics Association.

The aim of the project is to develop a strategic and sustainable management model for the Râșnov Citadel, developed in collaboration with the Norwegian partner HANDS ON HISTORY AS and the Râșnov City Hall. This model will be implemented over a period of 12 months, bringing substantial improvements in several directions.

The general objective of the Heritage Hub RâÈ™nov project is to develop a strategic and sustainable management model for the RâÈ™nov Fortress, using the opportunities offered by the tangible and intangible local heritage in order to develop cultural experiences and the local business environment, which will be developed together with the Norwegian partner Hands On History AS and implemented in partnership with RâÈ™nov City Hall for 12 months (including by organizing a medieval event with 30 participants from Norway).

Project implementation period: November 2022 -  April 2024  (18 months)

The total value of the project is 982,269.20 lei, respectively 199,17585 euros.

The amount of the non-refundable financing (85% EEA Grant and 15% the national budget): 982269.20 lei, respectively 199.17585 euros.

PROJECT RESULTS

Strategic Management Plan

-STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT PLAN - during the project, a strategic management plan for the RâÈ™nov Fortress will be developed and tested, and best practices will be exchanged with the Norwegian partner Hands on History AS.

LOCAL HISTORY BOOKS - In order to intensify the involvement and attachment of the local community to RâÈ™nov Fortress, we consider it crucial that young people learn about heritage from an early age. Our project proposes a pilot program to develop and distribute two local history textbooks for 30 teachers and 250 students.

-MEDIEVAL FESTIVAL- The organization of the Medieval Festival (September 7-10), which included two days of collaboration with over 40 European specialists, dedicated to discussing solutions and strategies for the RâÈ™nov Fortress, and two other days dedicated to events for the general public in the garden of the RâÈ™nov Fortress.

Râșnov Fortress Garden  has been transformed into a hub of cultural activities.  Five local artists were selected to develop artistic products and activities in line with local cultural values. These artists benefited from an exchange of experience with the Norwegian partner, Hands on History SA, and formed the "Râșnov Creativ" community. This aims to become a collaboration and promotion platform for artists from Râșnov.

Development of Tourist Products

Conception of a new tourist product called MEDIEVAL CAMP. Inspired by the Norwegian concept "Go Viking Hiking", this innovative project will be adapted to the Transylvanian context, based on local historical values and themes. The natural beauty of the RâÈ™nov Fortress area and the nearby mountains will be used, integrating elements of authentic history and props specific to the medieval period.
